In 2014 Chef John Breeland decided to folow his culinary passion by starting JB Chowhounds, a company that provides personalized chefs, cooking classes and innovative personal catering.
Not long after - Chowhound Gourmet Catering was founded to provide top-notch. one-of-a-kind catering services to weddings and special events.
John Breeland - Owner and Executive Chef
Chef John Breeland started his culinary career at The Whitney, one of Detroit’s most iconic restaurants located in an historical mansion. From The Whitney, John went on to join the award winning and talented culinary team at the Golden Mushroom in Southfield, Mi. It’s at the Golden Mushroom where his enthusiasm and determination to hone his skills as a chef solidified his passion to turn food into a true art form. John has extensive culinary experience at numerous restaurants in the Detroit Metro area including his recent position as Executive Chef at the up and coming Sardine Room in Plymouth.


Jeff Kurncz - Executive Chef
Executive Chef Kurncz started his culinary career at Fiamma Grill in downtown Plymouth. He has also created culinary dishes at Morels, The Epicurean Group and recently at the French Toast. In the winter of 2016 Chef Kurncz joined the team here at Chowhound Gourmet. He loves cooking culinary dishes from around the world and but also likes utilizing local local ingredients, especially if he’s cooking for his two children.
Steve Julin - Marketing Director
Steve Julin has been editing film and video for over 25 years. He joined Chowhound Gourmet in 2015 to oversee all the catering company's needs in marketing including print material, the website and all the social media.
In 2014 and 2015 Steve received an Emmy for producing Great Lakes ~ Great Tastes on PBS. He also served as Senior Avid Editor for six years at Grace & Wild HD Studios. Steve is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University where he received a B.S. in Television Journalism.
Today Julin spends his time with his wife, Shiela, running a digital marketing company Cleverscope and producing Great Lakes ~ Great Tastes for PBS .
